Monty, a voice assistant for Raspberry Pi

Nowadays, more and more virtual assistants or voice assistants are coupled to different platforms to leave the usual input methods. The first of these was Apple's Siri, then followed by Google Now by Google and Cortana by Microsoft. And what about Linux? Well, for Linux the most famous is Mycroft but recently we have known a new one for Raspberry Pi.

This new assistant is called Monty And although it already has results, for the moment we will only hear it since there will be no way to have it running on our raspberry computer until July 2016. Monty pretends to be a voice assistant like Cortana or Siri that makes us use the voice instead of the keyboard or the mouse, however it seems that it will not have any extra functionality, only make that users can interact with their computer through voice commands.

Monty will try to make a niche among the Raspberry Pi programs

The idea is original and as you can see in the video something already works, however the developers, in this case amateur programmers, want that the Monty is fully functional and that's why they don't release any beta or alpha to test. Even so the date of July 2016 it is an early date and will make the program meet the demands of many. Still, we must not forget that Mycroft is an assistant whose brain is a Raspberry Pi, so if it comes out before July this year, Raspberry Pi and Linux users could have two virtual or voice assistants before the end year.

It seems that more and more users prefer to use the Raspberry Pi as a basic computer and not as a component, something that is welcome although less powerful boards also have their less "computational" functions. Monty is sure to be a great voice assistant, but the best thing about it is that Monty can be carried over to Gnu / Linux.
