Mozilla continues with its operating system, but now with Things Gateway

Mozilla Things Gateway

Although Mozilla put its operating system on standby, it is true that the Foundation's developers and users have continued creating programs and projects related to Firefox OS. One of these projects is related to the Hardware Libre and with the Internet of Things. The project is called Things Gateway and it will receive interesting updates and news soon.

Things Gateway aims to be a link between all smart devices and the userLet's get a gadget to "control them all." And although it has not become what I was looking for, we can say that it will be a great option for Raspberry Pi users.

The new version of Things Gateway will bring similar functions to Alexa and Google Home, thanks to its listening system, voice recognition and commands. Will recognize new Hardware Libre such as smart light bulbs, speakers, etc… And it will be compatible with new software such as IFFT.

Things Gateway will retake Mozilla's interests for Firefox OS

Documentation for the entire Mozilla project can be found at the official website of the project. Where in addition to the news and its operation, also We can see how to install this software on our own Raspberry Pi.

The truth is that resuming a project like Things Gateway is good news, not only for users of Mozilla software but also for those who use Raspberry Pi. In this case we do not have an operating system to use as a minipc but we do we have a powerful software to improve the home automation of our house and a totally free alternative to create any smart device since Things Gateway is licensed under the GPL and Raspberry Pi is a free board. Personally, it seems like good news and an open door towards the rebirth of Firefox OS, an operating software that promised although it did not have much real support.
