NatureWorks presents a new variant of its Ingeo filament

Nature Works

Nature Works is a well-known North American manufacturer of biopolymers, especially known thanks to the specifications, characteristics and above all interesting properties of its PLA filament Ingeo, which, according to what has just been published, has undergone a new evolution that makes it even more interesting for all kinds of applications and uses in FDM or FFF type 3D printers.

As a detail, tell you that Ingeo is a filament whose formulation is exclusive to NatureWorks so, despite the fact that there are quite a few copies on the market, none have the characteristics that make it special. Within the Ingeo range there are several variants of, among which, perhaps the most reputed is the 3D850, which is widely used in the thermoplastic 3D printing sector.

NatureWorks manages to create a PLA filament with characteristics similar to ABS.

Leaving this a bit aside, today I want to talk to you about the new variant 3D870, which, according to the press release released, has already been tested by many manufacturers around the world with very good results. It should be noted that, according to the tests carried out, this new variant produced by NatureWorks is 50% more resistant to impacts than ABS, resistance that would go up to 120% if we also apply the part annealing post-process.

If you are interested in testing this new material, whose characteristics make it very similar to ABS, tell you that from NatureWorks they announce that in order to work with it we need a machine capable of reaching temperatures in its extruder of between 190 degrees and 230 degrees without the need for count on a warm base. If we also apply an annealing to each piece, we need temperatures of between 110 degrees and 120 degrees in a process of about 20 minutes.
