Many are the diseases or problems that can end a ovarian removal, a serious problem for many women since, due to this, they literally lose their ability to reproduce, something that many researchers who believe that we are only gene machines whose main objective is to reproduce can be classified as a total biological failure.
After many months of development, this problem could find a solution in the latest work published by the Northwestern University (Chicago) since a group of researchers and scientists has managed to develop and test prosthetic ovaries manufactured using technologies such as Print 3D.
Northwestern University successfully conducts the first 3D printed prosthetic ovarian tests.
As you surely know, in a very basic way, we could define an ovary as a chamber in charge of the manufacture of eggs prepared for fertilization. Due to this, if in a specific case the ovaries are lost, both of them, unfortunately, a woman's body cannot make eggs, so you will never be able to have children again in your entire life.
The solution seems to be in this project whereby, using 3D printing, artificial ovaries made of animal protein could be implanted. Follicular cells and oocytes (necessary for the generation and maturation of eggs) are inoculated with this substance. The most interesting thing about this project, in addition to the fact that scientists have managed to develop it, is that, in tests on mice worked flawlessly restoring fertility to them.
Por el momento there is still a lot of work to do until this technique can become a reality in humans. Even so, and despite the fact that the tests in mice have been a complete success, we can have a little hope since the road to success is a little closer.
