Obsidian, a 3D printer that can be yours for 99 dollars

Obsidian

Kodama It is one of those companies that owes a lot to Kickstarter, it is also true that the company itself has worked on setting up a more than interesting campaign where they managed to exceed their initial goal, raising around 100.000 euros, in less than 3 minutes. After it was closed, thanks to the creation of Obsidian, a 3D printer, the company has managed to raise almost 1.5 million.

To talk about Kodama is to talk about a company based in San Francisco that is in charge of the development and construction of Obsidian, a company that has been fortunate that this is not the first project with which they have reaped great success since a few months ago they presented Trinus 3D, another printer that on Kickstarter managed to raise more than 1.6 million dollars.

Kodama launches Obsidian, a $ 3 99D printer

Undoubtedly one of the most striking points of this campaign and above all the point that has generated the most interest is that they have put the Obsidian on sale at a U.S. dollar price 99, a characteristic to which we must add that, contrary to what usually happens, this company is not new, but is already their second project so they already have some experience in the sector. According to a brief statement from the company:

We are again ready to raise the bar for 3D printing, which helps us to reduce the price of this product.

Among the most interesting peculiarities and characteristics of the 3D printer, it should be noted that it has a build volume of only 120 x 120 x 120 mm. The precision of the same can vary between 50 to 350 microns with a maximum speed of 70 mm per second offering a maximum extrusion temperature of up to 250 degrees Celsius. Thanks to all these characteristics, as it has a protective cover and heated base, the Obsidian can work with such different materials such as ABS, PLA, nylon, PETG, PC ...
