Omega2 reality or vaporware?

Omega2

A long time ago we saw an sbc plate hardware libre which for little money offered possibilities as great as the Raspberry Pi, at least in the server aspect. This plate was called Omega2 from the Onion company and will cost $ 5 the normal version and $ 9 for the Plus version.

This was interesting because for the same price as a Raspberry Pi 3 board we could have 7 Omega2 boards with its consequent potency. But something strange happens in the development of this SBC board.

Like many projects related to the Hardware Libre, Onion requested money through crowdfunding, small quantity they ordered in Kickstarter, one of the famous crowdfunding platforms that exists. The success was great and in a short time almost 700.000 dollars were raised, a very high figure that augured a great future for Omega2. The point is that we have recently learned that Omega2 has requested financing in Indiegogo, with great success as well, in this case exceeding $ 800.000.

Omega2 already has a financing of more than 1,5 million dollars

On Kickstarter the Omega2 plate will be delivered this month while on Indiegogo the plate will be delivered in December. It is a strange situation that indicates that something may go wrong because if on Kickstarter the funding exceeded what was needed What need is there to ask for more money on another platform?

And in case of problems with the platform, the dates would be respected but it seems they have been postponed a month, something also illogical because a delay in hardware projects is not usually solved with a month but with more time.

Officially the project continues and Omega2 will see it quickly in the markets, but such a situation catches my attention and makes me think badly. Possibly Omega2 takes longer than expected to reach the markets or maybe not, but in any case the situation is peculiar and striking Do not you think?

the truth is that with so much collection it is rare that they do not begin to send them now. Or even inform a little more about the status of the project.
Yesterday's message: "We import orders on the 24th of each month" What does "import" mean in this context? I would understand export, or send, or ship ...
I have been waiting since October 11.
