You will already know a lot, there are many companies dedicated to the manufacture of sportswear that today are working on the development of new methodologies to ensure that 3D printing can be implemented in their factories. This time we have to talk about the Chinese company PEAK Sport, which has been in charge of designing the first basketball shoes made by 3D printing.
Before continuing, let me tell you that PEAK Sport took advantage of the Peak China Tour 2017 celebration, an event where the NBA player was present Dwight Howard, to present these interesting sneakers to the public. Of course, in an event like this, Dwight Howard, who liked them more or less, had no choice but to support and admire this project.
PEAK Sport shows what today are the first basketball shoes manufactured by 3D printing
According to his own statements Dwight Howard:
This pair of boots obviously offer higher performance than traditional ones. I felt that the 3D printed soles and sidewalls allow for a more comfortable wearing experience. Perhaps one day in the future, you will see me wearing the 3D printed basketball boots, footwear designed based on research and development carried out by PEAK, during an NBA game.
Tell you that to manufacture these basketball shoes, the company has opted for such an interesting technology as selective laser sintering using a material of thermoplastic polyurethane. The result of this mix is a very flexible and light shoe that, in turn, allows its users to work on the design and customization of the same to limits, until now, never seen before.
For its part, for Xu Zhihua, General Manager of PEAK Sport company:
As a new prototyping and processing technology, 3D printing is of great importance to Chinese sports brands and the country's Made in China 2025 strategy. Our goal is to transform PEAK into the world's leading professional sports brand through continuous innovation and expansion in international markets.
