PiBoy, a new change from Raspberry Pi to rescue the Game Boy

piboy

Currently there are many designs and projects to carry out with the Raspberry Pi 2, however the ones that are most successful are those related to old video consoles, if not long ago we were talking about Whistling, a project that imitates the Nitendo NES, today we are talking about PiBoy, a design that tries to rescue the old Game Boy using a Raspberry Pi but in this case expanding functions is not only contemplated but carried out.

So in PiBoy not only have the traditional controls of the Game Boy but we also have auxiliary buttons and two rear buttons like current PS4 controllers. Also the designers of PiBoy have included an HDMI output on the back and an SD output to have the slot as a cartridge area, although they are not really the traditional Game Boy cartridges.

The idea of PiBoy is to recreate the mythical portable console but without having to lose the current features and the Raspberry Pi board. Another thing that has changed in this design is the quality of the sound of the Raspberry Pi, this has been replaced by another that has a better quality.

PiBoy seeks to create a Game Boy but with the power of today

PiBoy not only uses a Raspberry Pi board but also has an LCD screen, a rechargeable battery that works as a board battery and a case that has been printed on a 3D printer, something that not only allows us to have a shape equal to the one. old Game Boy but it greatly reduces the costs of the game console.

Regarding video games, PiBoy has no problem since when using Raspberry Pi, its software is also used and it can make the Game Boy classics work quietly, even those of the 3DS if we use the Raspberryy Pi 2.

I have to admit that this Game Boy design is incredibly good, maybe the better design inside the old consoles, but maybe I say it because I have always preferred to use a portable game console to a normal game console. But, looking at the success of the PiBoy, I think I'm not the only one who likes this design.
