PiCar-V, a car for the most gamers

PiCar-V

We can use Raspberry Pi boards for all kinds of uses. The most popular are professional, but there are many projects of other types such as PiCar-V. PiCar-V is a small car that is controlled by a Raspberry Pi 3 board. This car is similar to a remote control car, with all its functions, but unlike the rest, the PiCar-V does not have a remote control as it can be supplied by a smartphone, a tablet or a computer with wifi.

PiCar-V is distributed via a self-assembly kit. This kit allows the use of Raspberry Pi 3, which can be supplied by another Raspberry Pi model, although it will not have the same features as with this board. Raspberry Pi 3 not only provides control and operation but also allows us to add extra functions like a camera to the PiCar-V. The kit that is distributed emphasizes the latter, although we have to say that thanks to the GPIO we can add other functions to the PiCar-V.

The kit has a cost of $ 149, a relatively low cost if we consider that it contains not only the mounting parts but also a Raspberry Pi 3 board, videos to assemble the car step by step, a visual guide for assembly Y various files and python programs to run on the Raspberry Pi and get the PiCar-V and your camera working. Unfortunately we are missing the PiCam. Indeed, the PiCar-V boasts the possibility of having a camera but it does not incorporate a simple PiCam, but leaves room for us to choose whether to use it or not.

The PiCar-V is an interesting project and an entertaining gadget to say the least. In addition, its costs are not very high and it may be a good way to learn how to take the Raspberry Pi to other media than our desktop Do not you think?
