PiCroft, the first virtual assistant for Raspberry Pi

Little by little our gadgets and our computers are filling up with virtual assistants and artificial intelligences that help us carry out daily tasks in front of the device. We've all heard of Siri, Cortana, Alexa, Google Assistant ...

And we've all heard of projects that were trying to adapt these assistants to other platforms like Raspberry Pi. But today we are going to present you a virtual assistant created from Free Software for the Free World, this is called MyCroft and it already has a version for Raspberry Pi, PiCroft is called.

Picroft is an image of Raspbian for Raspberry Pi that has all the Mycroft software inside, the wizard that was created a long time ago for Ubuntu. This wizard works perfectly on Raspberry Pi and already has an image ready to test and work.

PiCroft is an attractive virtual assistant that will enhance free projects created with Raspberry Pi

PiCroft at first glance does not seem more than a simple Debian, but in the upper right we will find a new applet that when deployed MyCroft will appear. This wizard will help us control our Raspberry Pi by voice: run programs, open folders, send emails or simply write a text that we dictate ourselves.

The PiCroft image can be obtained through this link. Before testing it, we must make sure that our Raspberry Pi is a model 2 or 3 and that it has a microphone connected to it. Once we have downloaded and recorded it on a microsd card, we only have to enter the Pi user and the password "raspberrypi", don't worry, they can be changed later. And ready.

PiCroft is an interesting project, something that it will undoubtedly be a success of 2017. Do not forget that there are many projects that connect Raspberry Pi with Arduino, if we add a virtual assistant to this, the success and popularity of many other free projects is assured Do not you think?
