It seems that lately the world of SBC boards o minicomputers is getting around a lot as not only have we received a new Raspberry Pi model but their competitors have lowered the price of their boards and even new boards have been launched like PINE64. What is different about PINE64 from other SBC boards is the fact that it is built to The World of videogames and also its price is low: about $ 15 a plate.
PINE64 is a board optimized to work with various operating systems but especially with Android. It has a Quadcore processor of 64 bits at 1,2 Ghz, 1 Gb of ram memory and a Mali 40 GPU with HDMI output at 4K. Yes Yes, the PINE 64 is capable of 4K playback. This board will have bluetooth, Wifi, a microsd card slot and two usb ports.
PINE64 will sell for less than $ 15 a plate
PINE64 is optimized for popular software like Kodi, Android, or OpenWRT, something interesting because the main use of this type of hardware is related precisely to this software and its functions. Unfortunately PINE64 is not yet in the markets, we will have to wait early next year to see this board in the markets. At the moment we can get it through its crowdfunding campaign from December 9, a campaign in which we can purchase PINE64 or a more complex version of PINE64 + for $ 19.
Free Hardware offers us many possibilities for customization and improvement. Gnu / Linux is usually thought of for Free Hardware software but it seems that PINE64 has thought more about Android than in Gnu / Linux, something interesting since there are many games and apps that will work well on this board and all for a cheap price, not as cheap as the Pi Zero but more than Raspberry Pi 2.
