PiTalk, an interesting complement for Raspberry Pi

One of the projects that most attracts the attention of all the repertoire that Raspberry Pi has is the creation of a smartphone. After the appearance of Raspberry Pi Zero and its versions, many users have tried to create this type of gadget or project.

Well, we are one step closer to being able to achieve it without great knowledge. A few weeks ago it was presented PiTalk, a complement that will allow us to transform any Raspberry Pi board into a powerful smartphone.

PiTalk is a plugin or shield that connects to the Raspberry Pi GPIO. This shield works as a telecommunications module on the board, allowing calls or 4G connection to be made. For this we will need a sim card that will introduce this new shield for Raspberry Pi.

PiTalk will allow us to have an autonomous Raspberry Pi board for an IoT project

The Raspberry Pi shield has an antenna output, a GPIO port to connect with other boards and a slot for mobile phone sim cards, as well as a port to connect an LCD screen. PiTalk is compatible with any current version of Raspberry Pi, not only with the Pi Zero derived versions but also with Raspberry Pi 2 and 3. This makes PiTalk an important complement to many projects, not only for creating a smartphone but also for creating standalone devices or enhancing IoT projects.

PiTalk is currently available via a crowdfunding campaign, reaching electronics stores during the month of March approximately for 75 euros per unit. The price of PiTalk is quite high, at least for what it offers at the moment. But it may be that during this time, the price drops considerably and it becomes a great accessory. In any case, it seems that creating your own smartphone or an IoT project with Raspberry Pi will be very easy to have and do thanks to PiTalk Do not you think?
