PocketBeagle, a rival for the Raspberry Pi Zero?

PocketBeagle by BeagleBoard

We hadn't heard from the BeagleBoard team for a long time. Up to now. Recently, the team at the popular Raspberry Pi alternative has released a new SBC board. This plate has been baptized as PocketBeagle, the little Beagle, a board that has been dubbed by websites as Techcruch as the smallest computer that exists. And although its size is really very small, it is true that there are other alternatives of reduced dimensions more appropriate for that title.

In any case, PocketBeagle presents itself as a great alternative for many projects requiring a small SBC board, although we have to say that it is not as powerful as Pi Zero or Pi Zero W.

PocketBeagle has a processor Eighth Systems OSD3358-SM accompanied with 512 Mb of ram and a slot for microsd cards. Unlike other boards, PocketBeagle has a GPU that allows 3D rendering, making it ideal for projects related to 3D printing.

PocketBeagle contains a larger GPIO than the Pi Zero

PocketBeagle does not have any wireless communications module, but it does have a large GPIO port, with 72 pins that will allow us to carry out various projects and various connections with other types of devices. The microusb port not only serves to power the board but also to send data to the board as well as software or instructions to perform a specific task.

PocketBeagle can be had for $ 25 per unit, a fairly affordable price if we compare it with certain models of SBC boards, but quite expensive if we compare it with the Pi Zero, which costs 5 dollars. In any case, the news of a new development by BeagleBoard is good news, as it is still an alternative to Raspberry Pi, although not as free as the raspberry computer.or maybe yes? What do you think?
