Qlone, a totally free 3D scanning application

qlone

Once we have entered the world of 3D printing, almost always because we have dared to try with the purchase of a home printer, we seek to go a little further since it seems boring to download already created designs and print them. In this step we can either start to try different programs or acquire a 3d scanner with which to copy objects.

Within this complex world, so far the truth is that the programs that could offer us the best results are quite expensive, one has just appeared baptized as qlone, a completely free application for scanning small objects that has been created by the company Eyecue Vision Technologies, which, over time, has specialized in image recognition and virtual reality solutions.

Qlone is a free software created by Eyecue Vision Technologies company

Nor should we think that we are talking about low-quality software, hence it is free, since to date Eyecue Vision Technologies has worked together with other companies in the development of their applications such as LEGO, Bandai and even Playmobil.

It was just after this type of work, very sophisticated and attractive, when Eyecue Vision Technologies dared to develop what we now know as Qlone, a system that you can create a complex 3D model using a simple 2D camera such as the one that comes equipped with any smartphone on the market today.

If you are interested in this proposal and want to try it, just tell you that, first of all, you have to print a sheet with a chess pattern. This sheet is provided by the application itself and is key in the process since you must place the object to be scanned just above it. Once the 3D scan is finished you can export the results in .OBJ or .STL format in order to proceed to retouch any type of defect in the computer.

As a detail to tell you that although the application is free, the truth is that export the model if it has a cost which can range from 0,44 euros to 1,09 euros depending on the size.
