Quirky Xerus, the new Windows-looking Linux operating system for Raspberry Pi

Quirky Xerus

If you have ever decided to try Linux, surely you have come across the huge number of distributions that exist, each one optimized for a specific case. If we go to the case that, as with many users, they test the Linux world through a computer whose performance is no longer sufficient, we can find that the solution to our final problem is reduced to only two or three possibilities. One of these is the one that I want to present to you today and that has been baptized as Quirky Xerus.

Under the name of Quirky Xerus we find a new very light Ubuntu-based Linux distribution which in turn is compatible with Rasbperry Pi. One of the characteristics that make it especially interesting to be used both on a Raspberry Pi and on a very old computer is that, to function properly, it consumes very few resources, which makes it ideal for systems with memory Fairly small RAM, less than a gigabyte.

If you are looking for a very light Linux operating system, one of your options is Quirky Xerus.

Aesthetically, it is especially striking that its developers have opted to offer a user environment in general and a desktop in particular. aesthetically very similar to the interface present in Windows XP, something that will surely be appreciated by all those users accustomed to working with very slow computers where, far from it, a much more modern operating system can be installed.

As a detail, it should be noted that, although any type of .deb package can be installed in a very simple way (an extension that would be equivalent to the much more familiar Windows .exe), the truth is that Quirky Xerus comes standard equipped with certain software solutions that are sure to be to your liking, such as LibreOffice, a fairly complete office suite, the video player VLC Media Player y SeaMonkey as a web browser.
