Raspberry Pi will soon be renewed but… what can we expect?

Raspberry Pi

Many are the companies that little by little have seen a great profit, in terms of profits, when it comes to selling the so-called 'pocket computers' a new generation led by the famous Raspberry Pi, which, despite the passing of the years is the only one that is capable of selling millions of units. With this in mind, we must bear in mind that the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B it has been on the market for two years and begins to show some weakness.

Due to this, it is not surprising that certain rumors begin to be heard, such as the possibility that the Raspberry Pi Foundation is working together with Broadcom to develop a new generation of the famous card, a joint effort that is becoming louder and louder and that could explain certain stock market movements that are taking place today.

Raspberry Pi lives an uncertain future that must be solved as soon as possible

At this point we must bear in mind that on the part of Broadcom we have that the company has in the VC4 / VC5 GPU architecture a very interesting point to start from, on the other hand, it should be noted that Broadcom just made a major buyout offer for Qualcomm, a company that literally has a monopoly on 4G technologies and even part of the mobile market thanks to its Snapdragon SoCs, that is, literally no company can sell a competitive phone without paying licenses to Qualcomm.

As you can see, Broadcom knows very well the type of business it wants to acquire since the merger between Qualcomm and Broadcom can create a series of very interesting synergies that would unite computing and connectivity in a new model that, due to the rivalry of both companies, until they merge is unthinkable.

With all this in mind, it is becoming more and more interesting that there are rumors that speak of how Broadcom could make two new SoCs for the Raspberry Pi Foundation. We are talking about a chip that would serve as the basis for a new generation of models. This chip would be associated with a Cortex-A35 with an increase in the clock frequency that would be in the range of 1.5 to 1.8 GHz. This SoC can work with up to 3 GB of LPDDR3 DRAM although, once on the market , surely we are talking about models equipped with DRAM memories from 1 to 2 GB.
