The American startup Saildrone, in its latest press release, has announced a piece of news that will surely please all the followers of this project since, in its last round of financing, they have managed to raise no less than 14 million. Thanks to this significant capital investment, the company will be able to advance its expansion plans by designing and manufacturing marine drones while beginning to develop devices with the ability to collect important information about the environment in which they operate.
Regarding the systems created by Saildrone, tell you that we are talking about a series of marine vessels designed to travel in a completely autonomous way the oceans and seas of our planet in search of data with which to continue advancing in the exploration of all these. These data will also be used to study climatology, environmental control or as analysis of fish species.
Thanks to this important injection of capital, Saildrone will be able to continue developing and evolving its marine drones
As in other similar projects, in order not to have to depend on a complete team having to navigate alongside the drone to collect the data, Saildrone's systems have been equipped with satellite communication. This entire system has already been thoroughly tested in different missions, an example we have in the statement released by the company itself where we are told how their drones have already sailed more than 100.000 kilometers in the Gulf of Mexico, the Bering Sea or near Alaska among other locations.
As for the navigation systems, since you may be wondering what happens if their batteries run out, tell you that these drones they sail using only the force of the wind so it is very efficient and cheap in terms of production costs and energy use.
