Today I want to introduce you to snapmaker, a machine composed of a 3D printer, laser engraver and CNC milling machine that can be yours for less than 300 euros.

On this particular occasion, the truth is that we are talking about a prototype that, although it looks very good, to become a reality you will have to collaborate with its financing through a campaign of through crowdfunding through the more than well-known platform Kickstarter. Personally, I have to confess that the idea behind the creation of Snapmaker has seemed more than interesting, even so, let's go into more detail.

Snapmaker, an interesting way to get a 3D printer, laser engraver and CNC milling machine for just over 450 euros.

As you can see in the photos, one of the characteristics that most attracts the attention of this machine is its care as well as its simple modular design that, in turn, allows you to assemble and disassemble it in a very simple and fast way. In a first module, we find what would be the printer 3D which offers us a printing volume of 125 x 125 x 125 mm with a layer resolution of between 50 and 300 microns.

If we exchange this module for the laser engraver we find a system composed of a 500 mW laser and a wavelength of 405 mm. Thanks to all this and according to those responsible for Snapmaker we can work with materials as different as bamboo, wood, leather, plastic, paper, fabric ... Finally, we cannot ignore the CNC milling machine, a module that stands out for its adjustable rotation speed between 2.000 and 7.000 RPM that can be used with wood, PBC and acrylic.

As for the software, something that we have to take into account, highlighting that this printer model can be used from the software itself developed by its creators or directly through fully compatible applications, such as Cura, Simplify 3D or Slic3r.

If you are interested in getting a unit, tell you that the base price of Snapmaker is about $285 although, for this amount you will only receive the 3D printer. To add either of the two modules you will have to pay about 70 euros. The delivery of the first units to their owners is scheduled for the month of September of this year 2017.
