CIA May Perform Drone Strikes Thanks to Trump Administration

CIA

One of the great and controversial measures that the president of the United States, Donald Trump, has just taken has been to allow the CIA to carry out drone attacks on suspected militants, a measure that contrasts with those taken so far by the previous president, Barack Obama, which limited the paramilitary role of the CIA.

For now, the truth is that neither the White House, the CIA itself or the Defense Department have released any kind of statement in response to this information published by Wall Street Journal citing as sources officials of the administration itself.

Trump empowers the CIA to carry out attacks with armed drones when they see fit.

It must be remembered that the United States was precisely the first country to launch attacks using missile-armed drones whose targets were, supposedly, suspected militants. These attacks occurred shortly after the tragic September 11, 2001 events in New York and Washington. After that, Obama tried to influence global regulations for the use of drone strikes as other nations began to develop their own programs.

According to critics of this measure, attacks using these types of weapons create more militants than they kill. For this statement they cite, for example, the spread of jihadist organizations or the attacks by militants of this type of organization around the world, an eviction that drone attacks could be exacerbating this problem.
