Today I want to present you other of those novelties where, for the first time, a company has managed to manufacture a fully functional product by 3D printing. This time we have to talk about RAMLAB a Dutch startup that can boast of being the first company to create a boat propeller by 3D printing, a job for which they needed the help of another of the great known in this world, such as Autodesk.
Personally, I think that news like this could not come from anywhere other than Holland, basically because this European country today has the largest port of the old continent, something that serves so that different companies from all types of sectors have a meeting point in the same. Not surprisingly, this port is capable of handling 460 million tons of merchandise annually.
RAMLAB is the first European company with the capacity to manufacture functional ship parts using 3D printing.
Due precisely to this large volume of work, it is necessary that all the operations carried out in it, whatever their type, must be very fluid and easy to control and, in order to advance at this point, the guys from RAMLAB have shown how manufacturing certain ship parts using 3D printing it can be a point to take into account. For this, as they have from RAMLAB, the company works with a large network of hardware and software specialists, academic institutions and even end users.

With the work done at RAMLAB, the group hopes to accelerate the adoption of this hybrid production to create large-scale ship parts. Our aim is to make the Port of Rotterdam not only a gateway to Europe, but also a leader in the development of new manufacturing methods. Autodesk is a key partner for us because it knows how to design and build using newer additive manufacturing techniques, but also more traditional methods such as CNC machining.
