This will be the new military drones of the future

Perdix

Many are the proposals related to the development of drones that come to us, among them today I want us to talk about the one known as Perdix, a series of unmanned micro-aircraft that are literally becoming, despite what their developers initially thought, ideal weapons to be used by any army in a war thanks, among other things, to their enormous potential.

As the United States Army itself has commented on the subject, the original idea came from a group of engineering students from the MIT, which created a small group of unmanned aircraft equipped with a software system that allowed them to fly in groups as if they were a swarm. It was not long until the army engineers realized the great potential that this project could have so they decided continue with its development although, now, for military purposes.

Perdix, a new concept of war is yet to come.

The idea of the Perdix drones is very simple, launch them together so that they can attack all their enemies at once, for example from a larger aircraft that will be in charge of transporting them to a key point. Apparently, the original idea was that these swarms were in charge of shooting down fighters and other combat aircraft, although, little by little, the idea has been growing and developing with objectives of much higher range.

As explained by the own William roper, Director of the Army Strategic Capabilities Office:

Because each Perdix communicates and collaborates with all the others, the swarm does not need a leader, so it can adapt to the needs of each combat thanks to its shared brain.

As a final detail, tell you that the project has already carried out several field tests showing that it can be a resounding success. To this day, those responsible are waiting for the approval of the Security Council to be able to mass manufacture these types of devices and launch the fight against the self-styled Islamic States.
