Thyssenkrupp opens a new center dedicated to 3D printing

Thyssenkrupp

Thyssenkrupp is a reputed German company closely related to the steel sector. After several months testing all kinds of 3D printing technologies, a large group of those responsible for it has just announced that Thyssenkrupp will open a new 3D printing center in the German city of Mülheim, something that will help accelerate its activity in the market of 3D printing.

Undoubtedly a much more important announcement for the metals sector than you can imagine since we are talking about a company that today is classified as one of the largest producers in the world with a client portfolio made up of more than 250.000 members. According to Thyssenkrupp itself, this investment is possible thanks to the fact that they already have machines and trained personnel to carry out this new activity.

Thyssenkrupp will bring 3D printing to its manufacturing processes as soon as possible

The main objective of this new center is none other than the production of metal and plastic components where everything revolves through two main technologies, the first and for plastic is based on the use of the EOS 3D M290, a machine capable of manufacturing solid and very durable parts while, when it comes to working metal, they will be used machines with laser sintering technology. It is expected that many companies belonging to different sectors, such as aerospace, automotive and energy, will decide to take advantage of the capabilities of this center.

Heeding the words of Reinhold achatz, Chief Technology Officer at Thyssenkrupp:

This adoption of 3D printing in our production processes will allow us to create much more complex structures that will be stronger as well as lighter compared to the parts that we manufacture today following traditional methods.
