Last summer we met a new SBC board created by Libre Computer. A board that was trying to be like the Raspberry Pi, but at the price of the CHIP board. This SBC board was interesting and it looks like it won't be the only one from Libre Computer.
Recently, Libre Computer has launched a crowdfunding campaign where has introduced a new SBC board. This plate is called Tritium and it comes in three models.
The essence of Tritium is offer the same as Raspberry Pi but for the price of $ 9. A very low price for an SBC board but also with reduced performance, at least if we compare the board with Raspberry Pi.
Tritium's processor is AllWinner quadcore, USB ports, Ethernet port, GPIO port, eMMC storage, USB ports, microhdmi and microusb port. All versions of Tritium will be compatible with Gnu / Linux operating systems and Android Oreo (at least they are working on it).
The ram memory of the Tritium board varies depending on the model we choose of this board. If we choose Tritium IoT, the ram memory will be 512 MB; If we choose the 1 Gb Tritium plate, the amount of RAM memory will be 1 Gb and if we choose the 2 Gb Tritium board, the amount is 2 Gb. The prices of these models will also vary: thus, the Tritium IoT board will cost 9 dollars, the Tritium 1 Gb board will cost 19 dollars and the Tritium 2 GB board will cost 29 dollars.
They are high prices, but even the most powerful model is cheaper than Raspberry Pi 3. Unfortunately, these prices and these versions may be affected by the crowdfunding campaign that Libre Computer has created. That is, we will not be able to buy this board yet but it seems that we will soon have an SBC board as powerful as Raspberry Pi 3 but with the price of Pi Zero. Don't you think so?
