Trollduino: a very ... special Arduino board

There are many official and compatible plates Arduino. Endless possibilities for developers looking for a base to start their DIY projects. Now makers also have a new additional tool, and it has a rather curious name: Trollduino. But it is not the only strange thing about this plate similar to a Arduino UNO and that uses the same form factor.

And if you wonder what makes this development board so peculiar, the truth is that you should look at its main chip. While in Arduino and the other development boards it is a microcontroller or MCU, in Trollduino's case it is quite a known for electronics: yes, a simple 555 timer.

But ... wait, wait! Is there really such a thing? Well, let's go by parts. As you know, the IC 555 is a well-known timer that has a multitude of possibilities in the DIY world. Great things can be done with this chip and a few other components.

Therefore, a person (Mild Lee Interested from from cyberspace came up with this Trollduino board "wonder". A way to troll the community As its name indicates. And in it he proposes to use a Arduino UNO to which the microcontroller has been replaced by a 555 timer, much simpler, but which could well be used to connect components to their pins and program some tasks.

The images are real, in them you can see how he placed the triple 5 on a plate at the style UNO. In addition, some resistors and capacitors have been added to the development board, and even a jack connector and a USB connector for power (since you will be able to store little data in a 555 ...). As for the pins, as you can see it is also compatible with Arduino UNO.

Y, even if it's a joke, the truth is that it could be a good idea for some beginners who want to start working with the IC 555 in a simple way. Yes, with the huge limitations and such, but if you put variable resistors and capacitors, you could play with it.

Indeed, quite limited compared to all the possibilities offered by a 555 (I'm not saying two anymore), but as an initial idea it is not bad at all.
