Unión Fenosa has already reviewed more than 1.300 kilometers of power lines with drones

Union Fenosa

Union Fenosa is one of the companies that is betting the most on the implementation and use of drones in our country, you have proof of what I say in how the company's employees have already reviewed more than 1.300 kilometers of power lines and 4.500 supports in Galicia alone using for this work unmanned aircraft.

As the company itself announces, in Galicia today there are a total of 2.400 kilometers of high voltage electrical networks which must be reviewed every three years. Due to this need, Unión Fenosa decided to sign a collaboration agreement with Hemav, a drone manufacturer based in Barcelona, so that it could provide them with a series of specially qualified drones to check the electricity grid.

Unión Fenosa is betting very strongly on the use of drones in the revision of power lines.

Based on the statements of Ferdinand Romero, we learned that right now, we are at a point where the two companies are studying the possibility of incorporate some type of mechanical arm into the aircraft With which it is possible to increase the capacities of the drones since they could be used to remove objects present in the high voltage lines and even serve to lay the cables of new networks.

Unión Fenosa has been using this type of technology for several months to review power lines in practically all the Spanish territory. To carry out this work, we are working with teams made up of two operators, they manage the drones that are in charge of reviewing the lines by zooming in on them in search for anomalies. Thanks to the use of unmanned aircraft, the company estimates a 20% increase in productivity of jobs, just like a 30% reduction in your costs.
