Up Core, more than just a Raspberry Pi rival

Up Core, powerful but not so free SBC board

There are many rivals for the Raspberry Pi, but there are really few that really convince the user to replace the Raspberry Pi with another board. Up Core is a board that could possibly get the Raspberry Pi user to leave the raspberry computer for this SBC board.

The reasons for this change will be the power and price that Up Core has, but it also has its cons, cons that make many users doubt but What does Up Core really have?
Unlike other plates, Up Core has an Intel Atom processor with a speed of 1,84 mhz; 4 Gb of DDR4-type ram memory, an Intel Graphics GPU and a built-in bluetooth and wifi module. In addition to these features, Up Core has several USB ports, an HDMI output, audio output, microphone and the possibility of having eMMC storage of up to 64 Gb.

Up Core will support the installation of Windows 10, Android or Gnu / Linux

This makes the plate Up Core can use a Gnu / Linux, Android or Windows 10 distribution as operating systems, without having to do anything special. Up Core cannot be purchased until August and when it comes out for sale will be at $ 89 per unit. A more expensive price than Raspberry Pi but in exchange you can install any operating system.

Up Core does not have any GPIO port like Raspberry Pi, but it does allow the use of expansion boards that will allow us to expand the limit of internal storage, to be able to use boards with a PCI Express interface or to have ethernet ports. Up to three expansion boards are supported, something that will make it a powerful SBC board. The Up Core board is currently seeking funding in Kickstarter. But it will be from the month of August when they physically receive this SBC board.

If we compare Up Core with Raspberry Pi, the doubts are many because Up Core offers more power and versatility for those looking for a minipc but it is also a more restrictive solution than Raspberry Pi. But it is something that is not a problem if our purpose is to use it as a minipc. But What do you think?
