Update your DJI drone before September or it will be unusable

DJI

These last few weeks have been quite difficult for a company the size of DJI, especially since the United States government has decided to do without all its services because the company has been classified as dangerous for the interests of the country due, among other things, to the fact that its drones autonomously sent data to servers located in China.

It is precisely because of this that DJI has just announced a new software update that must be installed immediately on any of its drones, especially on the Spark, the smallest model of the company and in which certain functions related to the erratic behaviors reported by some users of this particular model can be fixed.

DJI will make unusable all those Spark that are not updated before September 1, 2017

The important thing about this update is that, contrary to what used to happen until now, DJI has announced that the deadline for all DJI Spark to be updated is September 1. At this point, highlight and especially emphasize that the company has announced that will activate the Kill Switch on all devices that are not updated after that date which will make the drone totally unusable.

Based on the press release released by DJI itself:

If the aircraft or battery firmware is not updated by September 1, the Spark will not be able to take off. DJI has decided that the option of a mandatory firmware update is the best way to maximize flight safety and product reliability, which we consider to be a top priority.

As expected, many are the user groups that are already criticizing this decision of DJI Although, in this specific case, it is also true that we are talking about an update that solves certain problems that your drones may have in flight, something that could finally endanger the safety of both people who are near the drone and all those goods that surround it in case of falling.
