Volocopter receives green light for testing in Dubai

Volocopter

If yesterday we talked about how Airbus had managed to successfully carry out the first tests on its autonomous helicopter, today we have to talk about Volocopter, a similar concept, since it seeks to create that new generation of autonomous air taxis, but which differs from the one proposed by Airbus in its architecture.

Regarding the Volocopter project, it should be noted that it has been created and developed by a German company that has literally opted to design an autonomous electric helicopter, which a few days ago finally received the green light to start carrying out a series of operational tests in Dubai, one of the capitals of the United Arab Emirates that little by little is gaining the title of pioneer city in new transportation methods.

Dubai gives the green light to the Volocopter project so that it can carry out its first field tests at the end of 2017.

Returning to the Volocopter, it should be noted that according to the agreement signed between the Dubati Roads and Transport Authority and the German company itself, the tests will begin to be carried out in the last quarter of this year and will last, in principle, about five years. Regarding the system itself, it should be noted that it has a approximate autonomy of 30 minutes and can transport a maximum of 2 people to speed up to 100 km / h.

In addition to the above features, Volocopter has been endowed with the ability to land and take off vertically as well as a parachute that can be used in emergencies. To reassure all users who want to trust this system, the company has already rushed to implement and ensure that its product meet the highest safety standards.
