Wasp successfully tests its new BigDelta model, focused on the world of construction.

BigDelta by WASP

Bigdelta, from the Italian company WASP, is a delta type 3d printer capable of printing 12 meter high objects. This printer is focused on the world of construction and its goal is to end homelessness in underdeveloped countries.

The company

W (World's Advanced Saving Project) is a young Italian company created in 2012. His project is focused on the development of 3D printing and deeply rooted in Open Source. WASP manufactures professional printers with the intention of promoting sustainable development and own production. In 2030, international estimates predict a rapid growth in adequate housing needs for more than 4 billion people. These people live on annual incomes below $ 3.000. The United Nations estimates that over the next 15 years there will be an average daily requirement of 100.000 new homes to meet this demand.

The new model Bigdelta that WASP has recently presented can be assembled in an hour by just three people and can be fed for a couple of meters of solar. Thanks to this, the goal is to achieve build a house with coste close to 100€

BigDelta printing

The BigDelta printer uses a mixture of locally sourced soil and straw that is prepared in an industrial mixing machine. The mixture is then ejected from the BigDelta print nozzle in predefined patterns.

Shamballa, the location

The team behind the project recently joined forces with local artisans to print a prototype house in Massa Lombarda (Ravenna). Completing your first home at a cost of only about $ 60.
