Pikes Peak

Year after year, one of the most impressive races or promotions in the world takes place, such as the climb to Pikes Peak, an ascent of about 20 kilometers of distance made up of no less than 156 curves. On this occasion and for the third time, the French speed racer specialized in endurance racing has managed to win this edition of the famous Pikes Peak.

To achieve victory the pilot Romain Dumas has bet on a MXX RD standard whose design is special for this climb. Specifically, and as they say, the small French sports car manufacturer worked with the company Poly-Shape, specialists in 3D printing, in various parts of this vehicle.

A car with 3D printed parts wins Pikes Peak 2017

Regarding Poly-Shape, it should be noted that we are talking about a French company founded in 2007, a subsidiary of the Upperside group, which little by little has specialized in the design and manufacture of metal parts in 3D printing to be used in different sectors such as medical, aerospace or automotive.

For this very special car, especially in terms of aerodynamic and power characteristics, we are talking about different parts made of a titanium alloy They must be very precise in terms of size and shape in order to meet all the safety criteria required in a test of this level.

Heeding the words of Philippe Veran, CEO of the Upperside group:

For the Upperside Group, it is an honor that a personality within the world of sport as symbolic and charismatic as Romain Dumas has chosen our subsidiary Poly-Shape to help them in the construction of one of the key parts of their vehicle.
