Images of the new Pinebook appear, the laptop with PINE64

Long ago the company behind PINE64 announced the arrival of an ultra-cheap laptop that would be launched during the month of February 2017. This notebook was not only an ultrabook and used an SBC board as the core of the device, but it will also be priced especially low, at around $ 89 per unit.

Finally the month of February arrived and we have not seen or known anything about the Pinebook. And when many assumed that the Pinebook was vaporware, images appear about the device in question.

It seems that the Pinebook exists and will be released, but we do not know when that will be. On the other hand, as we can see in the images and with the information given, the Pinebook will have 2 Gb of ram memory, an 11,2-inch screen at least (as there will be another version with a larger screen) and two USB ports. In addition, the user will have a webcam and a usb port on the Pinebook. The laptop's battery has 10.000 mAh, which gives an autonomy of more than 4 hours, approximately.

Pinebook's core is a PINE64 SBC board, a free board that is presented as an alternative to Raspberry Pi. So the laptop in question has the same performance as PINE64, that is, a 1,2 Ghz quadcore processor, 2 Gb of ram, 16 Gb of internal storage, bluetooth, Wifi and a Mali-400 GPU.pinebook.

There is no doubt that the laptop exists, but we do not know anything about the release date or even what the operating system that this device will carry. Currently there are versions of Gnu / Linux distributions for PINE64 so it is very safe that let Gnu / Linux be the default operating system.

We don't know anything about Windows and Windows IoT is not an operating system as complete as Ubuntu or OpenSUSE, so it seems that this ultrabook will not have Windows 10. In any case, this device will help many who cannot afford the 890 euros that a macbook currently costs and all with Hardware Libre.
