BuildTak presents its new product, FlexPlate System

BuildTak Flexplate System

BuildTak presents in society its new printing surface. With the product Flex Plate System They promise us that detaching objects from the build platform is going to be really easy. In addition, during printing they will be perfectly adhered to the base.

The new printing surface is available in infinite sizes different. In this way we can use it with the largest possible number of printers on the market.

Everyone who has ever printed knows that the first layer is crucial for a successful print. The printing base not only has to be a completely level surface, but it must also have very specific adhesion characteristics. If we don't have is adherence or if we print large flat surfaces, the terrible problem of warping.  The object, or part of it, will peel off during printing ruining the whole process.

Homemade solutions to improve adhesion to the printing base.

Traditionally printers print on glass. But being a very little adherent a pre-printing treatment must be done. At the beginning of open source FDM printers it was common to put a Kapton tape layer to improve adhesion.

With the development of heated bed printers, a hairspray coat (the gurus only use Nelly hairspray). However all these methods enter a manual job and the inaccuracy that this implies.

BuildTak commercial print surface.

Some companies as BuildTak they introduced some time ago on the market some self-adhesive sheets to place on top of the printing surface. The theoretical benefits of these sheets are high durability, high adhesion of the extruded material and considerable heat resistance. While it is true that its use complicates the leveling of the printing surface winning both fans and detractors in the maker community.

Flex Plate System, the evolution of the manufacturer's product uses 2 sheets. The first in one magnetic plate that adheres directly on the build plate. The second is a flexible magnetized foil that we place on the first. This sheet can be put on and take off as many times as we want (like the magnets on the fridge). This second sheet, being flexible, we can bend it to facilitate the separation of the printed object.

Price and availability.

The manufacturer already sells the product on its website to a price of € 77 for the 159 x 235 mm kit
It remains to be seen how long it takes to reach your distributors in Spain, since still we do not have an official date.
