Enigma machine

If at any time you have studied everything that happened in a contest like World War II, surely you will have come across the Enigma machine, a contraption created by the Nazis to encrypt and decrypt their messages. Such was its importance that many are the historians who comment that Germany lost the war because the Allies were able to seize a unit and, what is more important, to decipher its operation.

After all this time, a group of students from the Centrale Supélec in Rennes (France) He has decided to get to work and manage to design and manufacture a replica of this famous 3D printing machine. As a detail, tell you that this is not the first time that this work has been attempted, previously other attempts were made with very modest results because all its designers eliminated the most difficult part of their work to create, the rotors.

Spectacular work carried out by a group of students to create an Enigma machine using 3D printing.

As you can see in the photos that are just above these lines, on this occasion and in order to make the set much more static, it is committed not only to manufacture many plastic parts by 3D printing, but behind the whole set can be see certain pieces made of wood, especially in the structure of the machine, as well as metal. Inside, although it is not seen too easily, there are also certain very modern electronic parts.

Without further ado, just at the end of this post, I leave you a link that will take you right to the project page where, thanks to the fact that it is open source, you will be able to find a list with all the tools and materials necessary for you to build your own Enigma machine.
