In Hungary they are teaching drones to hunt like wolves

Wolves

Undoubtedly, we are facing one of those news that attracts special attention because of its headline and, on this occasion, the truth is that, contrary to what it may seem, it is completely true since Hungarian scientists are developing an algorithm through the which a group of drones can behave and imitate the way wolves hunt in packs.

To achieve this, scientists have had to carry out a long and expensive analysis to understand the behavior that these types of predators follow when they chase a prey or a group of prey. After all this work it has been possible to develop a algorithm capable of autonomously calculating the number of drones necessary and indispensable to catch a certain prey.

A group of researchers manages to develop an algorithm capable of making a group of drones behave like a pack of wolves.

Based on the statements and publications made by the group of researchers in charge of this experiment, we find that, unlike other models, theirs takes into account different factors such as the capacity of the predators that the system seeks to imitate in order to predict the movements of their prey, their influence on the behavior of the victim in a panic situation and, above all, the cooperation between the members of the herd.

For scientists it is interesting to know the behavior of the packs and this type of algorithm can make a group of drones behave not only like a pack of wolves, but can also imitate the behavior of packs of lions and coyotes. After this work, the scientists hope to achieve better results by using techniques of Artificial Intelligence.
