MintyPi, a portable and menthol game console

MintyPi

Surely the most veteran of you will know or have known "the little machines" of a single video game. These machines were the predecessors of the current portable consoles. These machines are not widely reproduced but they do have a large audience behind them.

A user has achieved recreate one of these "little machines" in a box of menthol candies. The brand of these candies is Altoids, a brand known in the Anglo-Saxon world. This causes the project to have received MintyPi's name.

MintyPi receives its name from the use of the box of menthol candies for its manufacture

If indeed the project uses a Raspberry Pi board, specifically the Raspberry Pi 3. Thanks to the RetroPie project, this board allows you to play any old video game (and not so old) and it is also a great size to use in the metal box of menthol candies, without making major modifications or additions to the device.

But the Altoids box was not enough to create MintyPi. As you can see in the video, the creator of this project had to use a 3D printer to perfect the device. Thus creating the respective pieces that fit into the Altoids box.

Regrettably we still cannot have all the data and files related to this project and therefore we cannot recreate or improve it. At least for now, since its creator has confirmed that he will make it public.

In any case, This MintyPi project is something that with a little imagination we can copy and create to our liking, using an old plastic box or a metal one similar to Altoids. Of course, the price of this project will not be cheap because it uses a Raspberry Pi 3 board, a screen and controls that have had to be printed. Now I doubt that many people have this MintyPi.
