Russia has nuclear drones in its submarine fleet

drone Russia

Relatively recently, we are talking about a few weeks, the United States Government decided to declassify a new package of documents. They have found evidence of the belief by the United States Department of Defense that Russia finally launched the rumored, as well as feared, Ocean System Multipurpose Status-6, that is, a program through which Russia came to manufacture nuclear-capable aquatic drones.

Considering the document to which we refer, it can be read:

These efforts include numerous modernizations of all phases of the Russian nuclear triad of strategic bombers, marine launch missiles and land launched missiles. Russia is also developing at least two new intercontinental range systems: a hypersonic gliding vehicle and a new nuclear-armed submarine autonomous intercontinental torpedo.

The US Department of Defense is confident that the Russian Status-6 Multi-Purpose Ocean System is developed and operational

Although this document could have gone unnoticed, the truth is that there are many analysts who, in its presence, have raised the alarm. Keep in mind that we are talking about a program that has been in production for about 10 years, for which they were developed drones capable of carrying 10 megaton nuclear warheads.

Based on what appears in the aforementioned report, it appears that Status-6 is a project carried out by the Central Rubi Marine Engineering Design Office in Saint Petersburg, precisely the largest submarine builder in Russia. Apparently the drone itself would have a capacity to operate of almost 10.000 kilometers moving at a maximum speed of 56 knots, it can submerge up to 1.000 meters.
