Last week the boys of Robochallenge in conjunction with Microsoft presented their new robot called DogBot, a robotic dog that joins the Xbox and Microsoft to offer the best of free technologies and Xbox video games. Thus, Dogbot is an extension of a video game that was presented at the same time and called Recore.
Like Pokémon Go, Dogbot will be the control or the real part of this video game that when interacting with reality we will see it in the video game. Thus, in addition to the robotic dog, Dogbot will be accompanied by an Xbox with its remote control.
DogBot will be the real part of an Xbox video game called ReCore
Many of you will ask what is special about this Dogbot that does not have other projects. The truth is that this robotic dog has been built entirely with 3D printing, including the motors and part of the electronics. This process has cost the guys at Robochallenge a job of more than 1.000 hours of printing, due among other things to the fact that the exact models of the video game have been followed, first being created in CAD and then exported to the 3D printer.
ReCore is an adventure video game which is made up of the adventures and puzzles that a group of four bots have to perform. Dogbot is one of them but there are also other bots like a spider called Seth, a pedal called Duncan and Mack the tractor. However, Robochallenge has only created Dogbot for the moment and it seems that it will be the only one that we see at the moment since there is no talk of any other model.
Robochallenge's work is not new and follows its action program in where you work with a large technology company to create a device that uses some free technology or simply 3D printing. Previously to Microsoft, Robochallenge was working with Samsung.
Today Microsoft sells ReCore video game for just under £ 30, a price in which the Dogbot is not included and it seems that at the moment it is not sold, which is somewhat limited to RoboChallenge, but Will it be for a long time?
