In recent days the success of RetroPie and of projects like Pitendo has been very high. This is because these projects allow anyone to use a Raspberry Pi board and turn it into an old video game console with lifelong video games.
However, it is becoming more and more common among SBC boards on the market. Thus, Raspberry Pi is not the only board that has a similar project or that allows us to play video games from the same board. We have been talking to you about BES for BeagleBone boards and today we present RetrOrange Pi, for Orange Pi boards.
RetrOrange Pi is a complete operating system that works on Orange Pi boards. Unlike other projects, RetrOrange Pi is based on the ARMbian project, a project quite unknown to many but solid and powerful like a Raspbian or Pidora.
RetrOrange Pi incorporates emulators and the Kodi multimedia center
In addition, this operating system incorporates other tools aimed at emulating video games and entertainment. RetroPie and Kodi will be the nuclei of the project that will surely fill the hours of entertainment for many Orange Pi users.
As for emulated consoles, RetrOrange Pi users will be able to play to PlayStation, MAME, Nintendo NES, SNES, Dreamcast, PSP, Atari, Sega, Nintendo 64 or ScummVM video games among others.
Orange Pi are SBC boards cheaper than Raspberry Pi, which allows us to have the same but for less money. To have RetrOrange Pi, we need an Orange Pi board, a microsd card of at least 16 Gb capacity and the RetrOrange Pi operating system that you can get from here.
There are many users who use Orange Pi, so this project is quite interesting but we must not forget that both in this project and in the rest of them, we need to have the roms of the video games.
