Some time ago Apple designed and presented to the public Swift Playgrounds, a sensational teaching application to learn to program in a very simple and intuitive way, new applications for both the iPad and the iPhone itself from the application itself, although from today you can also program robots, drones and musical instruments.
To achieve this development, Apple has requested the collaboration of several leading manufacturers of accessories that control their products via Bluetooth. Thanks to this collaboration, you will now be able to control any accessory, such as a Parrot drone, using the code that you have generated yourself with Swift Playgrounds.
Swift Playgrounds, an interesting tool to get started in the world of programming.
As commented by nothing less than Craig Federighi, Apple Senior Vice President of Software Engineering:
More than a million children and adults around the world already use Swift Playgrounds to learn the basics of programming with Swift in a fun and interactive way. Now they can instantly view the code they write and directly control their favorite robots, drones and instruments from Swift Playgrounds. It is an incredibly engaging and full of possibilities way of learning.
Among the robots, drones and musical instruments that you can control from Swift Playgrounds using your own code, highlight for example:
- LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 robots
- Sphero's SPRK + robotic sphere
- Parrot's Mambo, Rolling Spider and Airborne drones.
- The Dash robot from Wonder Workshop
- The Skoog Music Cube
- The Jimu Robot MeeBot by UBTECH
